David Josephitis, D.O.
Hair Transplant Surgeon
Soon after graduating from high school, David Josephitis found his calling. Even
at such a young age, he knew that he wanted to become a surgeon. He felt that
practicing medicine was all about repairing something that had gone wrong, and
he loved the idea of being able to restore a person's wellbeing. As he pursued
his dream, he realized that in order to become a great surgeon, he would first
need to be an outstanding physician. "I chose to study Internal Medicine in
order to become a well-rounded doctor," said Dr. Josephitis, "I felt that a
broad medical knowledge, in addition to my surgical specialty training, would
offer the best of both worlds to my future patients."
After completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois, Dr.
Josephitis spent a year at the University of Amsterdam focusing on biology and
foreign studies. He earned his medical degree from the esteemed Nova
Southeastern University. Then, immediately following his Internal Medicine
training at the distinguished St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in
Phoenix, he began his specialty training in Hair Transplantation Surgery.
Working under the direction of Dr. Matt Leavitt, the Founder and Medical
Director of Medical Hair Restoration, Dr. Josephitis completed the prestigious
MHR fellowship in Hair Transplantation Surgery. "Medical Hair Restoration
offers a rigorous year-long fellowship program," stated Dr. Josephitis, "the
academic and surgical training is world-renowned for creating outstanding hair
transplant surgeons. This is a highly specialized field, so I only wanted to be
trained by the best surgeons in the profession, utilizing the most advanced
techniques."
Dr. Josephitis was drawn to hair transplantation because it is one of the few
specialties that require both an analytical and aesthetic mind. "I have always
enjoyed creating," he said, "hair transplant surgery gives me the unbelievable
opportunity to actually recreate a person's physical appearance and, at the
same time, help improve their overall sense of confidence and self esteem."
The basis from which Dr. Josephitis draws his medical philosophy has always
been to be a great surgeon in addition to an outstanding physician. "I believe
there is a benefit in a hair transplant surgeon having both a medical and
surgical background," he stated, "As a surgeon, I can give the patient the most
natural looking transplant the industry has to offer. As a physician, I get to
enjoy great relationships with my patients as their hair loss specialist. And,
with my background in Internal Medicine, I can assure the patient that he or
she is an appropriate surgical candidate." For Dr. Josephitis, the most
satisfying aspect of being a hair transplant surgeon is relieving his patients
of the burden they feel when losing their hair. "Hair loss is a serious and
troubling issue that many deal with on a daily basis," he said, "I enjoy taking
this strain and concern out of a person's life and making their hair a
non-issue.
