Matt L. Leavitt, D.O.
Founder, Medical Director & MHR Patient
The winner of the 2002 Golden Follicle Award, Dr. Matt Leavitt has had a storied
rise to international prominence in hair restoration as founder and medical
director of Medical Hair Restoration. While attending medical school at
Michigan State University, Dr. Leavitt studied hair transplantation with
several leading hair transplant surgeons and assisted on procedures during his
dermatologic training.
Soon after opening his private dermatology practice in Orlando, Florida, he
decided to continue his work with hair transplantation because many of his
patients were coming to him for help with their hair loss problems. He found it
hard to recommend hair transplantation because of the poor quality work he had
seen from other surgeons at that time. Developing something better for his
patients became his goal.
.
The result is Medical Hair Restoration- one of the largest transplant practices
in the world. The wonderful results MHR achieves with their medical and
artistic techniques brings people from over 40 countries around the world.
Their list of patients include many celebrities like pro football players,
touring golf professionals, television personalities, congressmen, royalty, and
even other hair transplant surgeons.
Dr. Leavitt's focus on quality is why MHR procedures are setting the standard
for excellence in hair transplantation. But
just as importantly, his requirement that all patients be fully and honestly
informed of results and costs of the procedure means that not only do patients
get great looking hair, they are treated fairly. Dr. Leavitt is also a Medical
Hair Restoration patient that has achieved remarkable hair transplant results.
Dr. Matt L. Leavitt graduated from the University of Michigan and Michigan State
University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency in
Dermatology at Ohio University/ Grandview Medical Center. An acknowledged
authority on hair transplantation, he has developed and taught new techniques
for hair replacement that accentuate a natural appearance. Surgeons from the
United States and abroad have traveled to Orlando to study with Dr. Leavitt.
Since its inception in 1995, Dr. Leavitt has been program chairman for the
annual internationally-attended Live
Surgery Workshop. This event each year brings together the top surgeons
in the world for training and sharing of the latest in hair transplant
techniques. He has authored chapters in textbooks, written magazine articles,
edited the American Academy of Aesthetic and Restorative Surgery Journal
featuring hair restoration and frequently appears on national television and
radio programs. In 1997 he performed the first live television hair transplant
on a national network (America's Health Network).
