Jaime F. Recasens, M.D., Ph.D.
Hair Transplant Surgeon
Inspiration is the driving force that motivates the human mind to initiate
action. For Dr. Jaime Recasens, his source of inspiration was his own hair
loss. As a 20-year-old college senior at the University of San Francisco, Dr.
Recasens began to experience the devastating effects of male pattern baldness.
Losing his hair at such a young age prompted a sense of helplessness that
triggered his need to find a solution for his progressive condition. He began
scouring biochemical textbooks and medical journals, searching unwaveringly for
a remedy. His studies even led him to pursue a Ph.D. in Physiology and
Endocrinology. "In spite of all my research, and after exhausting every
possible topical medication claiming to work, I eventually came to the
realization that the only effective treatment available was surgery," stated
Dr. Recasens. He chose to undergo hair transplantation with highly respected
surgeon, Dr. Paul Straub. The re-growth of his hair, in areas that were once
bald, evoked such amazing feelings of elation and restored self-esteem, that
Dr. Recasens was inspired to enter medical school to pursue a career in hair
transplant surgery. "Experiencing the miracle of hair transplant surgery made
me want to share its benefits with others," recalled Dr. Recasens.
As a senior medical student at the esteemed St. Louis University School of
Medicine, Dr. Recasens had the tremendous opportunity to train in hair
transplantation under the guidance of his personal surgeon, Dr. Paul Straub, a
renowned innovator in the field of hair transplantation. Seeking to join a
world-class hair restoration practice, Dr. Recasens soon found Medical Hair
Restoration and Dr. Matt Leavitt. He was impressed with Dr. Leavitt's broad
knowledge and experience within the hair restoration industry. "Dr. Leavitt
stands at the forefront of this dynamic field, leading extensive research and
surgical advances," remarked Dr. Recasens, "Beyond his unparalleled commitment
to innovation and surgical excellence, Dr. Leavitt has also helped bring hair
restoration to literally tens of thousands of patients."
After having performed more than 2,000 hair transplant surgeries, Dr. Recasens
maintains a deep sense of accountability for each of his patients. "Hair
restoration surgery is an elective procedure. I feel that I am there for the
patients, and not the other way around," he stated, "I feel that it is my duty
to partner with each patient to reach a common goal. Therefore, the patient's
desires are paramount."
Because of Dr. Recasens' comprehensive medical training, his empathetic
approach to his patients, and the excellent hair restoration results he has
achieved, Dr. Leavitt invited him to join the Medical Hair Restoration team of
surgeons. For Dr. Recasens, the most satisfying aspect of being a hair
transplant surgeon is the joy patients express when their results grow in. "It
makes me feel so proud to sit with my patients and compare their before and
after pictures," smiled Dr. Recasens, "the pictures really highlight the
dramatic changes that can be achieved."
