Hair Transplantation

The Complete Process Explained

The First Step - Schedule Free Consultation Online

The first step in regrowing your hair naturally and permanently is registering for a FREE Consultation. The process is simple and only takes a few minutes to fill in your information and schedule an appointment. The best part is that you can schedule your appointment from the comfort of your own home. Your information is stored securely and we do not sell your name.

The Second Step - Attend a Free Consultation

At your Free Consultation, you will meet with a trained hair professional to discuss your hair loss and determine the reasons for your balding. Many of our Patient Education Directors are also patients of Medical Hair Restoration and understand your frustration. They know what questions are important to you and will outline a comprehensive plan for successful hair growth that meets your needs.

The Third Step - Hair Transplant Surgery

You will arrive and sign paperwork and select your choice of lunch and DVD movies to watch during the process. You are photographed prior to surgery so that your progress can be monitored. The surgeon will meet with you and you will both determine the best hairline that is possible for the amount of donor hair you will be transplanting.

Since the surgery can be uncomfortable, you will be offered a sedative to numb and relax you. Then, while laying down on the table, Lidocaine and Epinephrine is carefully and gently injected into the donor area, making it completely numb and ready for surgery. The surgeon will then skillfully remove a strip of donor units approximately 1 centimeter wide. The strip will contain hundreds even thousands of follicular units.

After the removal, the donor area is sutured and when combed, the suture is virtually undetectable. A pressure bandage will be placed around your head and you will be given a chance to sit up and relax before the graft sites are placed. This is when you will eat your lunch and enjoy your DVD movie selections. While resting, hair technicians are meticulously disecting each hair follicle into individual grafts using a binocular microscope.

The surgeon will then mark the graft sites in a natural pattern. The technicians will begin to place the individual grafts while you watch the movie and eat lunch.

Once all grafts have been placed, the scalp is carefully cleaned and the sutured donor area is wrapped with a clean bandage. The surgeon will visit with you and inspect the quality of the graft placement and answer all of your post-surgical questions. You will be offered the GraftCyte® 7-Day Care Kit to help improve healing time and reduce the itchiness and irritation.

The next day, you will have a follow-up visit, where the bandage is removed and your scalp and sutured donor area is carefully washed.

The Last Step - Follow-Up & Hair Growth

After one week, you will have your final evaluation. The suture will be removed leaving behind a thin, nearly invisible scar. The surgeon may visit with you and ensure the hair is growing back nicely and answer any questions you may have. By the end of the first week, the graft sites will be completely healed and the transplanted follicles will have seamlessly blended with the remaining hairs already growing.
